not mine. I love this clamp for frames, and the $15 price is pretty good. It's ~28 on Amazon but with free shipping.

Re: Merle clamp - Raleigh CL

I have looked at those and have always been unsure as to how well it would work as it reminds me of a band clamp. Does it do a better job at keeping the corners aligned than a band clamp?

Re: Merle clamp - Raleigh CL

The Merle clamp is much better than a band clamp (I've got two - want to buy them?). The corners stay in place and apply pressure parallel to the plane of the frame, and the pressure is quite acceptable for normal frames. The metal band doesn't stretch the way a band clamp does, but the metal band is also a little tricky - if you're not careful, you probably could cut yourself. For the Amazon price of $28, they can't be beat. I seem to remember Joe Scharle posting on these - you might check with him.

Re: Merle clamp - Raleigh CL

I also have a pair of the Merle clamps and much prefer them over the traditional web material. The steel band is much easier to control but can be sharp if your not careful.

I bought mine through MLCS.

Here is a video, Travis, demonstrating them on clamping up a raised panel door....

Re: Merle clamp - Raleigh CL

I hate to close this thread because there is such good info on this Merle clamp system. Maybe you can start a Gloat thread and I can transfer this over?
