JDS introduced a similar, but much smaller, design last year ... but now Laguna has a larger model available. I like the idea of a semi-mobile cyclone -- especially for a smaller shop like mine.

Re: Laguna Mobile Cyclone

Hmmm. The Laguna looks suspiciously like the JDS 3 HP version, even with the little handle on the side to pull it around. As I said when commenting on these before, I question the efficiency if they need a small motor on the filter side to keep it clean -- suggests to me that the cyclone is not very efficient. But you are right on one score, it looks compact.

Personally, I'd go with a small PSI cyclone like this one http://www.pennstateind.com/store/TEMP1425S.html for under $1,000 or a roll-around canister-style like this: http://www.pennstateind.com/store/DC2V3CF.html for under $400.

Re: Laguna Mobile Cyclone

I still say: Go with the Clearvu and make it mobile if that's what you need. It will cost you less money, you will get the best dust removal technology and and you will be going PROVEN WINNER!

Re: Laguna Mobile Cyclone

i'd bet money that the laguna and the jds are the same cyclone and neither of them are making them.

i agree with dino go with clearvue for $$ savings or oneida for a more polished product.

Man, you guys don't even give a "new" product a chance. Might be better than any/all of those, or just the same ... never know 'til you see it go!

I wasn't showing it because I'm buying it, but rather just showing it because I saw it's a relatively new product on the market and will fit a niche.

Re: Laguna Mobile Cyclone

I imagine one sticking point would be the price. For $2495, I could buy a ClearVue or Oneida, and still have quite a bit of change left over for another tool or two!

Re: Laguna Mobile Cyclone

Jeremy, we're just trying to save you money! Actually, I was surprised when JDS asked you to call them for the price on their website. As you know, I'm also a ClearVue owner and they are much cheaper that this one. They are on sale through March 31st and you can get their 7' high CV 1400 for $1,215 delivered. If you have the room for 8' in height, the CV1800 is only $1,245 and comes with more blast gates. I don't know of any NCWWers with either a JDS or Laguna cyclone, but I do know of at least a half dozen with ClearVue's and they work.
