Fein 8" Random Orbit Sander
I just ordered this sander from Amazon-It is about $250 - $300 less than anywhere else I have seen it sold.
This sander is not for the faint at heart.
This is a tool gloat as well.
Thanks,
David

Re: Fein 8" Random Orbit Sander
okay, I almost jumped on one myself, thinking you got it for $250. but that ain't cheap!
of course, you are probably aware that gloats don't count until the pics are your own, in your shop

Re: Fein 8" Random Orbit Sander
I have been interested in this sander for some time-this one kicks but and works better on large surfaces. I like my Performax (except lately on mahogany), but, contrary to conventional thinking, large table tops tend to be a problem on drum sanders (from my experience) due to the material not being a perfect plane. I have started with 1" stock and ended up with a 1/2" table top after using the drum sander. I just finished a kitchen table and used a jointer plane and scraper instead of the drum sander.
