Veneer subtrate

I've got a question that may not have a correct answer. What is the best substrate for veneering? I'm thinking Baltic birch or MDF?

Re: Veneer subtrate

I would go with the MDF. It is more stable then the BB.

I would also recommend the MDF.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Re: Veneer subtrate

MDF is excellent, but HEAVY!!!! BB would work just as well, as would Luan plywood, with half the weight. If you are using paper backed veneers just about anything will work, except chip board.
