I have quite a few turning blanks that are Thai species...directly from Thailand as a matter of fact. I have been told that the species are...
Acacia Coconutwood Palmwood Oak Hevea (Rubberwood)
So now I have to go back and take each piece (lots of pieces) and identify it. Any suggestions? I have had a very hard time trying to find information on the Thai strains of these species. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places.
Thanks,
Rod

Thanks Mike. Those are good pics too. I have another couple websites that I found with lots of info. I am also trying to write the Forestry Dept of Thailand to see if they have info. I will probably get a "visit" from the CIA soon wonderring what the **** I'm doing.

Re: Thai Wood Species Identification

I've never messed with palm although I did have an opportunity to saw some last year. I heard it's rough on blades because of the embedded fine sand that's in the wood and bark. I don't know if that's right or not - it's just what I heard from a reliable source.

Thanks
