Re: Raleigh Lumber Run 05/18/08

Jeff,

I'm driving to Apex Friday and will be at the Picnic on Saturday and could come up to HF for the lumber run on Sunday. I'd like to get some of the KD or AD 8/4 maple (a bargain at $1.50), but it would need to be in 5 foot lengths -- I can probably stuff about 50 BF into my Camry with a bit of luck. Does anyone that comes to the Lumber run usually bring a cordless saw to cut pieces? I don't own one or I'd offer. Please let me know if you can accommodate me. Oh, and what time is the lumber run going to be?

Thanks.

Just so happen to have some of that - it maybe a "tad" long - if someone could bring on of those battery powered skill saws that would prevent me from firing up the husky in the HF parking lot.

Thanks

The way this is looking we make have to have two lumber runs. I'll keep piling up the trailer till it touches the overloads or about 5 ton then that'll be all she wrote. Less ofcourse Reggie is going to be pulling the trailer for me

In his posting in the Classifieds, Jeff said he'd be at the HF parking lot at 11am.

I should have read all of the comments -- it's on page 2 of 3! I suspect there will be a gazillion folks there!

Rob - since your coming from the mountains I want to make sure I load yours - I have about 200 BF of 8/4 maple. Eventhough it's from the same tree species I have 2 kinds

* old spalted wormy full of all kinds of color and character 2x8 ~ 2x12

* clean white with the little tan grain hairs like you see in the stores in 2x6 and 2x8

Which kind you want? Both kinds have been kiln dried, let me know.

Thanks

Re: Raleigh Lumber Run 05/18/08

I loaded up about 150 BF of 4/4 KD quatersawn beech, about 50 BF of 4/4 KD Maple and 200 BF of 8/4 maple. My 5 ton trailer is close to being over loarded so I think this will be it for this load.

I'll have to sechedule another Raleigh Lumber run with some 4/4 ERC Whte oak more maple and some other stuff - I didn't realize I had this much lumber but I should have got a clue when I didn't have any room left in my shop hu?

I'll update post #1 and the ad a little later.

I've been flooded with PM's that I have not had time to answer so I'll work on that to - please accept my apoplgy if you have not got a response from me.

Thanks

Re: Raleigh Lumber Run 05/18/08

Jeff -- I want the clear Maple because I am using it to make toys for kids. Our club is going to making lots of them for disadvantaged kids and I cannot use the spalted because of the potential problems with kids sucking on the wood. I can use 50 - 75 BF of 8/4 (if you have less than that in 8/4, make up the difference in 4/4 to a total of 75 BF). I've arranged with Steve Coles to borrow his cordless saw and I'll bring it to cut the stock you bring, so length is not an issue.

Plan on being there. Did not put any dibs on lumber after seen how many people already had. Hopefully there will be some available for me, if not oh well.

Thanks Ivey - I'm sure that you bringing some lumber will make a lot of people happy. I placed what your bringing and your pricing in the ad I started located here ---> http://www.ncwoodworker.net/ppclass/...hp?product=390

I started this thread mainly to discuss and bring people up to date on the lumber run. However we should be using the ad for the buying and selling part of the lumber run.

Thanks Again for chipping in
