Raleigh Lumber Run 05/18/08

I hope a lot of people show up for the Raleigh lumber run 05/18/08 - I didn't realize how much lumber I have until I started loading it.

I seen several people ask for Eastern Red Cedar - I have some but not enough maybe Ivey will bring some?

Here what I have loaded and ready for delivery (AD = Air Dried / KD = Kiln Dried).

Approx 150 BF of 4/4 KD quatersawn beech
Approx 50 BF of 4/4 KD Maple
Approx 200 BF of 8/4 KD Maple (about 100 BF of each - see pics this thread)
Approx 100 BF of AD 4/4 maple.
Approx 200 BF of AD 5/4 QS Sycamore (Bark on one edge)
Approx 400 BF of KD 4/4 QS Sycamore
Approx 200 BF of AD 5/4 and some 9/4 crotchy American Elm

Approx Total 1300 BF or so.

Thanks

I hope to be there, even though I didn't call dibs on anything...the vultures swooped in while I was at work and probably claimed everything. I'll be there to help and pick up the crumbs

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Jeff I know I wanted to pick up some of that ERC from you but with the high demand for it & alot of people before me asked for it I think I'm gona sit it out & let the other longer running members have at it! Plus its a long way from greenville to raleigh 2 days in a row for something I may or may not be able to get! But I do appreciate the unbeatable service you are providing for all of the members! & hope I can get a chance next time!!! Maybe I can even stop by your mill & see your operation in action over the summer sometime!

Jonathan, how much ERC do you need? I have maybe 100 bft that I am probably never going to use. It is dry and has been stored inside for the last three years. I'm a lot closer.

I will be there. Since I don't need perfect pieces for most of my small projects I can stay in the back row and wait my turn.

Re: Raleigh Lumber Run 05/18/08

I just loaded up Americian Elm lumber pictured in this thread --->

http://www.ncwoodworker.net/forums/f...rican-elm-2994

It's been air drying 2 years - I sold this lumber I don't know how many times but each and every time the person backed out. So I figured I would make a bed for my son out of it but he had to go and move out and go to college on me

This is what it looked like fresh off the log, it's gray now but I'm sure it's only planer skin deep - glad I cut it 5/4 cause it did move a little. Some of the boards have some real long crotch feathers. There is a good 200 BF plus a little 9/4 all the boards are wide. Someone should purchase the whole lot - it was flat sawn so there are lots of book matches.

So far I have loaded

Approx 100 BF AD 4/4 maple.
Approx 200 BF of AD 5/4 QS Sycamore (Bark on one edge)
Approx 400 BF of KD 4/4 QS Sycamore
Approx 200 BF of AD 5/4 and some 9/4 crotchy American Elm

Will load some more tomorrow and post progress...

Thanks

Re: Raleigh Lumber Run 05/18/08

For those of you who are inquiring about Cherry and Walnut - sorry I'm fresh out - I doubt I could sell it for $1.50 a BF even if I did have some. I can't keep any Cherry or Walnut around - every stick I cut gets gobbled up by hungry wood workers . Ivey mentioned he would be bringing some lumber too Ivey we need ERC, Cherry and Walnut at the lumber run.

BTW the Ad is here ---> http://www.ncwoodworker.net/ppclass/...hp?product=390
I started this thread to keep us up to date on the lumber run.

Thanks

Re: Raleigh Lumber Run 05/18/08

Ditto. I prefer my lumber like my mind: short(sighted) and narrow. That may be because I only have a 6" jointer and can't easily rip anything longer than 6' I've never worked with Sycamore, so I'm happy already if I can snag just a few boards. Maybe make some planters with it, or replace the wood on an outdoor bench.

And as far as price goes, whatever you decide is fair is OK by me, regardless of what was advertised.

'cause I'm new here... what time do you usually hit the parking lot?

though I have no idea what I'd do with lumber that thick, I think I'd like to at least look at it. Continue my edumacation, you might say.
