If your interested in purchasing any lumber from this run, please reply to this post specify species and BF desired. I sure hope you guys like maple because I got a lot of logs left to cut.

FWIW, and since you asked, I could use Cherry and Cypress.

Re: Raleigh KD Lumber run #3

Jeff,

I would definitely be interested in a small amount of ambrosia maple, maybe 30-40 bd. ft.

Re: Raleigh KD Lumber run #3

Cathy, I'm going to take the liberty of answering for Jeff re availability...

The current load of Oak, Cherry and Walnut should come out of the kiln next weekend. We will immediately reload it with the wood that Jeff is bringing tomorrow morning, which should come out around Sept 15. That means that the following load (and subject of this string) should be coming out around Oct 6th, give or take a week.

The actual times may vary a week either way, but that's what my "crystal ball" is depicting right now!

Thanks.

Scott

Re: Raleigh KD Lumber run #3

From what I gather it's sounding like Maple Walnut and Cherry. I'll work on the details and post Raleigh KD Lumber run #3 in the for sale area.

Thanks everyone

Re: Raleigh KD Lumber run #3

Did someone say they were looking for furniture sized pen blanks? How about
80 BF of Spalted Quarter Sawn American Beech? It smelled a lot like beer when I was sawing it

Re: Raleigh KD Lumber run #4

Sawed a little Red maple this evening for this run. Here's a 23" dia Spalted maple butt log, light ambrosia, heavy on the spalting.

Inside, I found a few faces in book matched sets, so I named them Misty and her husband Mohan

Everyone meet the Maples

Misty Maple

Mohan Maple

I know I'm crazy - but it's fun...

Thanks

Wow! Those are some amazing patterns. Great names, the Maples Although Mohan would better named The Crazy Bugeyed Monster. But that's just me.

Yeah, a little crazy. Without crazy, you're just sawing wood. This is way more fun! I can't wait to see Wally Walnut and Olivia Oak.

Re: Raleigh KD Lumber run #4 (updated with pics)

Barry, You could be right, saw enough spalted logs and it does strange things to you

Bas - I'll see what I can do on the Wally Walnut, but Olivia Oak will have to wait till run #5. I want to try and gather some big White and Red oak butt logs for a 8/4 QS oak run.

I'm trying follow up with some 4/4 maple to complement the 8/4 in run #3. I think I may have made a little mistake buy asking for maple saw logs. Even though I was out a few weeks ago, I got em coming out my ears now and there is more on the way . I guess you gotta be careful what you ask for...

Thanks

Re: Raleigh KD Lumber run #4 (updated with pics)

Cut a few more red maple logs today this one is fresh off the stump today, 20" small end diameter red maple butt log.

Once cleaned up it yielded a 15 x 15" clear cant, not a knot in sight, pretty. It don't get much better than this. Yep that's a little curl your seeing

Found a few more faces, in this butt log... Meet a few more of the Maples

Here my work shop at night

Thanks
