I got a guy who has been bugging me for these book matched pairs. Boards are red maple 4/4 x 9" wide x 8' long, I cut em @ 10" wide but they shrank in the kiln . I think they are pretty cool and I held them back for sale, thinking I would join them together into some door panels for a wardrobe at some point in time...

Bug-eyed angry goat

Bo Bo bear or Horned owl depending how you slice it

Rino or moose depending how you look at it

Something weird like a squid or something

I'm wasn't planning on selling them, but this guy has offered me a pretty penny for 8 boards / 48 BF and I'm starting to reconsider.

I'm just wondering what's fair here and what you would pay for them - I'm not trying to sell them to you- just trying to get a feel for what they are worth, if I did sell them to the guy that's offering to buy them, I feel like I would be ripping him off.

Thanks

That is some wildly figured wood.

Jeff,

I think Mike has some terrific advice. You never asked for a high price... he offered you an amount that he was willing to pay.

By-the-way, the boards and their figuring are beautiful.

What Mike said.

If you still don't know, consider keeping two of the pairs and selling the other two. That way, you got wood AND money. And only two projects on your backlog, not four

yeah you guys are right - I didn't even want to sell the book matched pairs. Since I pretend to be a wood worker myself, I figured I would use them at some point in time. I guess I learned a lesson here that I knew all along and just need to be reminded of. Value is in the eye of the beholder. Personally I didn't think they were very valuable, I guess they aren't to me, but seems they are to someone else. Now I got some thinking to do.

I think I just figured out what many sawyers call "stash lumber" That's exactly what I did with these I stashed them away because I thought they were unique.

Thanks Guys for setting me straight
