Well I'm in more need of help identifying a chunk of wood. I'm leaning twords ash, but then again I'm not sure . Figured a picture showing grain around a knot might help identify it. What ever it is, it's hard as (fill in the blank).

Thanks

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Jeff---------it is a little hard to tell with the flash reflection in the pic but it appears to have some pinkish tint in it. That indicated hickory or pecan to me. Pecan is in the hickory family. Just guessing The grain looks a little too pronounced for either one of those though.

little clearer picture. After looking at this closer and going by why kyle said the pitch pockets are (thin red lines) are long some are a good 6" or more. Not at all like white oak whose red lines are short. Can we rule out my first guess ash?

That could be what I call "pin oak", sometimes referred to as willow oak. I have some in the shop and I think I remember colors like I am seeing in your last pic. ???????????????? guessing again
