I had a blast out at Jim's yesterday. After figuring out I had a bad ignition coil and blowing a hydraulic hose on the bobcat snaking a big ole poplar tree out of the woods (hot oil bath...) But Sunday things went good, I bucked two big RO's that were up on the top of a hill. It was kinda fun backing the bobcat up the hill like a snake, waving in and out of standing trees. Then of course there was coming down off the hill forward on only two front wheels waving in and out of standing trees, that made things really interesting... Bobcats don't have brakes you know tipping forward is fine with a big log chained to the forks as long as the bobcat has solid forks, because the forks catch the bobcat so it won't tip over. It's tipping backwards that causes a guy to have to change his britches, that's why you go up hill backwards it helps prevent soiled pants.

It's also kinda useless telling your wife about what kind of fun you had in the woods, when she wont even get on a small roller coaster. She actually told me I have serious thrill issues, I think she is right (as usual)

I don't know if like logging or sawing better - they both are fun and are great stress relievers. I thought a little about why and for me I have to concentrate on the task at hand, else there is a good chance of getting maimed. I mean flinging chainsaws around, working with thousands of lbs of round logs that seem to have a mind of their own and big sharp band saw blades... it all kind of makes a guy concentrate Doing this kind of work, my mind just doesn't have time to think about anything else. That's why it's a great way to relieve stress...

Now that's got to be the manly-man post of the year Jeff!
I'd like to be closer and get in the woods with you but I'd need to bring my Ram full of fresh britches!

Re: Had a blast

I get enough excitement just walking out to the car in the morning.

But, I'm glad you enjoy it!

Re: Had a blast

I almost forgot to mention. That I got a man purse, it's a 5 gallon bucket full of tools, spare parts and assorted spray cans... I about ran off and left it on the front porch, till one of my wife's friends said "don't forget your man purse" What's a guy to do, but say thanks and laugh about it?

btw DA BEARS WON SUNDAY - GO BEARS
