Re: Got to meet member insteadof

Hey Jeff,

Can I recommend starting a new thread for your potential oak sale to help stir up the interest?

I didn't know that you were looking to do another run, as the thread's title is still "Got to meet member insteadof".

Quickly scanning the thread I didn't see how much y'all will be offering the oak for. Do you have an idea yet?

Also, will this be off the log, or graded out?

Thanks, and good luck with the run!
-Kevin

I would agree, only the few that read all and every post would catch this.

Re: Got to meet member insteadof

Ok yep your right - I need an executive summary don't I?

The right thing to do is spin up a new thread and get straight to the point.

Thanks...

You guys have another accomplished wood worker on your hands, he gave me the grand tour of his built by himself log house and furnishing inside, a shop tour, a couple of WIP projects and an introduction to his wife. Someone was really looking out for Jim when the tornado came by - not one of the mature trees around his house or shop fell - just out in the woods.

Bernard I don't think Jim is more than 10 miles from you.

Thanks for having me out Jim - Sorry I sweated all over ever thing...
Bernard wouldn't happen to be a German fellow by the name of Bernhard Lampert would it. We've worked together in the pharmaceutical industry for many years. Just curious.

Does that mean you got Felder shop machinery, too?

Avon's "Skin So Soft" works pretty well. It's a bit oily, kinda like straight DEET. A bit on the perfumey side. Sulfur powder around your boot tops and waistband also helps. The main problem is that it takes a long, long, hot shower with lots of soap to clean up this preventive maintenance.

No, but I also have German heritage dating to my family's arrival in Ohio from Bavaria in about 1835. Unfortunately my grandfather's cussing in German led to the demise of the language within the family. However, the hard-headed nature has thankfully survived.

Had a logger guy over to the house this afternoon for a cookout - I asked him how do you keep the ticks off you when your out in the woods? He said they do three things..,

* The company buys cases of Cutters Backwoods Cutter 6 oz Aerosol (23% deet)
* They also buy cases of Cutter Max 100 1 oz. Pump (100% deet)
* Diesel Fuel

They wear nylon pants which they tuck into their boots. Take a rag dipped in Diesel fuel and wet all the way around lower parts of the boots. Then spray clothes, exposed skin and hair with Backwoods Cutter. If it's real bad in a particular section of the woods spot spray exposed skin with Cutter Max 100 which they carry in their pocket. He said also a lot of the times he doesn't do nothing more than the Diesel Fuel around the boots but clean uniforms must be sprayed with backwoods cutter, no bugs will come around Diesel Fuel. Said he has had only 3 ticks on him so far this year and was able to spot them and flick them off before they got attached. Just remember the "Orange Top" cutter - don't mess with the green top Cutter, but at the start of every work day - a fresh coat of Diesel Fuel around the boots is a must.

I'm sure the nylon pants help also - he went off to explain that he once was standing in a yellow jacket nest and they could not sting him through the nylon uniform pants.

Anyways just thought I would pass this along - seems like good solid info and it always helps to ask someone in the know - ya know?

Thanks
