What the best wood for a drawer runner? It's for a outdoor project, I'm thinking maple would be good, but not sure. | | Views: 192 |

What wood will the rest of the project be made from?
I think most hardwoods that are good for outdoor use would also be good for drawer slides (white oak, walnut, teak, ipe, etc). Softer outdoor woods (redwood, cedar) may not hold up as well.

You can use that for both the runner and the center slide on the bottom of the drawer and be done with that one. |

The HDPE would be maintenance free. Not so for the brass as most woods would tend to cause corrosion. You did say it was going outside, right?
