Hard/soft, workability other than carving and burning, and where can I get large pieces and not just the pre-cut stuff from Michaels?

christopheralan Check the suppliers list under "where are" in the navigation panel. Some of the lumber suppliers listed may carry basswood.

There are many online sources for Basswood, often custom cut to your specifications: basswood lumber - Google Search

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.
