Anyone of you sawyers and kiln operators out there buy hardwood logs? Or anybody else ever sell logs to a sawyer/kiln operator?

I need to know what kind of market is out there and what kind of prices, specifically for the eastern part of the state and about as far west as the Raleigh/Wake area.

My local tree guy just cut a half dozen or so walnut trees- tomorrow I go see what sizes and appearance and would like to be able to tell him roughly what the logs are worth.

Thanks

Here are some photos and dimensions of the walnut. Very conservatively, total lumber exceeds 500 bft. First pic is of first three logs listed, next are next three. The best one is at the top center of the pic- the 21" dimension was taken across narrowest part of the diameter. I know there is at least one more big log and some smaller ones coming but not sure of their dimensions. There are a lot of other misc logs also that are not listed.

Logs are located in Washington, NC. If no sawyer/kiln operator is interested in the logs I will recommend that they be slabbed into a mix of two thirds 4/4 and one third 8/4 and sold either green now, or air dried. They look to be some good logs. Color is darker than the pics and appears washed out because they were taken in bright sunlight with flash fill of the shadows.

Again, anyone interested in purchasing complete logs, sawn 4/4, 8/4, etc. (your choice) green, or sawn and air dried please send me a PM. At this point at least, I have no financial interest in this endeavor- just trying to assist a small local business.

FYI, this log guy and the local sawyer both have some air dried stock (cherry, r&w oak, red cedar), and as soon as I can check it out, will post results. Again, as yet, no financial interest, in either endeavor.

Below is a report of your entries:
Scale: Doyle
Diameter: 21" Length: 12' 217 Bd/Ft, subtotal: 217
Diameter: 17" Length: 10' 106 Bd/Ft, subtotal: 323
Diameter: 19" Length: 10' 141 Bd/Ft, subtotal: 464
Diameter: 11" Length: 6' 18 Bd/Ft, subtotal: 482
Diameter: 13" Length: 8' 40 Bd/Ft, subtotal: 522
Diameter: 9" Length: 8' 12 Bd/Ft, subtotal: 534

Would like to, but I can't afford it. My purse strings have been clipped.

Jeff, he hasn't determined a price. Are you interested? I sent you a PM.
