Before you sticker green wood take some old latex paint and dump in in an old container that is as big as your wood, and dip the ends in the paint. This picture is two years old with no spites.

Dave I don't have any peach color but I do have pinacolta which is really close

It is a realy good idea I would think exterior paint would work great and really slow down the ends from drying to fast.
