This bowl is going to be used for a sugar bowl - does anyone know what would be the best finish on it since sugar does draw moisture - It is going to Montana and I need to get it done soon

Thanks

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Re: I tried in Wood Turning forum but

I would probably do 2-3 but it depends on your cut. A leaner cut will lay down better, but require more applications.

Re: I tried in Wood Turning forum but

Famowood makes a glaze coat that I'd use to line the interior.

It's an epoxy that produces a thick, clear, waterproof finish. I've used it inside wooden vases that I've put flowers in. No leaks, no damage to the interior surface.

Re: I tried in Wood Turning forum but

I though about suggesting something epoxy based, but I have to agree with Dave for this use. I think sugar will be ever so slightly abrasive and the spoon will take some very, very light scrapes from time to time. Despite its origin, I would rather have a little shellac than epoxy in my coffee.

Phillip, you probably know this, but just in case you don't - SealCoat is blonde dewaxed shellac. If you want to try to keep the color unchanged, I would use it (it is still a very subtle amber if you go a few coats).
