I know from some of the gloats posted there has been a number of new table saws purchased recently. Seem like mor Powermatic 2000 than anything else.

Question is has anyone had any problems with the wings coming into alignment with the table top? Did the wings meet your expectations for alignment?

My feeling is that you should be able to slide a putty knife across the joint from either side where the wing and table meet at any point from front to back at a right angle and it not catch. Is that being unreal?

Would like to hear what others have experienced in the assembly of wings to saw table.

I am going to be out of town the next few days so be patient for my response to any posts-------I will read all when I return.

Jerry

Re: Table saw wings

Mine is not a Powermatic, but on my Ridgid, you can't catch your fingernail going from one to the other. Reading from posts on the Ridgid forum, I may be one of the lucky ones, but I did spend a little time getting them aligned when I assembled it. If you have too big a difference in heighth, it can mark the wood. If its a gap, it won't matter anymore than the miter slot.

Re: Table saw wings

On my PM66 it takes quite a bit of time and finesse to get them right, but yes, I got them right. Didn't have to drill out any holes or anything, but it is a back and forth endeavor as each wing has 3 holes.

Re: Table saw wings

On my Unisaw the cast iron wings line up without to much fuss. However, I have never been able to get the extension table to do so. I have taken the saw apart, leveled EVERYTHING, and put it back together so that it did line up. Then after a week or so the back edge drifts up by about 1/64". It doesn't mess with performance, but everytime I slide the fence over it bumps on it. It is really annoying.

Re: Table saw wings

I had that problem with mine and built a new extension table and then drilled holes and bolted the extension table to the wings. It sits flat now, but it also bubbled the formica in that area. I should have chamfered that edge, but I thought a square edge would look better..
