Re: recent carving #2

Now it is working. The piece is Honduras mahogany, 32" long x 8" wide x 1 1/8" height. Carved for an antique bed, the original is on the left. Layout and reversing of the pattern took about 2 hours while the carving was about 10 hours. Tools used were 2 #5 gouges, 1 #11 gouge, and 2 #7 gouges.
First real traditional or classical style piece I have done...it was a fun and challenging piece!

Re: recent carving #2

Excellent work

Don't forget to post pictures of the completed bed.

. . . now the challenge of matching the color/finish.
Always lots of fun!

Re: recent carving #2

Thanks for the approval! The piece was a commission so I will not be doing the finish work. The client is supposed to let me know when the bed is finished, it is by far one of the nicest beds I have ever seen. These carvings are 2 of many and the center piece carving is really out there. I will take photos and post them when he is done.
