I thought I would take a shot at the new process for adding a photo. The plate is 13 inches and the bowl is from a scrap cut-off

Dan, Looks like you did a great job on the picture posting and an even better job on the spinny things. I like the finish. What is it?

Re: Walnut plate / small bowl

The finish is just over the counter friction polish. Before I put any finish or even any type of wax on things that have beeb sanded on the lathe I take it off the lathe and use the first two stages (wheels) of the Beal Buffing System. It seems to get all of the sanding dust out of the wood pores and the finish always seems to look clearer.

Re: Walnut plate / small bowl

Very nice job, both in posting the pics and the turnings. The Walnut plate is spectacular...I wish I had scrap that nice to play with.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Both pieces are great, but the plate is spectacular! Where did you find that piece of wood? Great figure.
