As some of you may remember, We have a friend that is in the VA hospital in Salisbury. His wife stays in our home when she needs to be close to him due to health reasons or any other time she needs to be close. Well today I really needed some shop time. I decided to make something that I hope will be special to him. This is my first weed pot. It is made out of Ambrosia Maple from taandctran. Thank you very much Taan. I had a great time making this gift and have asked my MIL to hook me up with some appropriate flowers to go in it for a veteran. Thanks for looking.

Finish is a three step finish. First step is the triple mixture of BLO, Poly, and MS. Second step is many coats of spray Deft Clear Lacquer. The third and all important step is the hand rubbing to shine up the lacquer. I have been rubbing this project for hours. The more I rub the better it looks. I Love Lacquer.

Re: For a Veteran Friend

good job as always Tracy. Weed pots are fun and reasonably quick.
I have a friend who is a talented turner that makes his living off weed pots. He does a lot of turning but weed pots are his bread and butter. He routinely seels out of them at the shows he does. People look at his bowls and HF's and note how nice they are - but they can usually afford the weed pots.
Good on ya for all the good you do~
