Saturday, we got the GM lathe setup and all the accessories inventoried.
Thanks to Steve, Andy, Scott and my good friend Tony for their advice, patience and knowledge.
For those who have not seen thee Good Will lathe and its accessories , I'll try to post a few pics.
ALso Thanks to FredP. for the excellent rack to hold the carving tools.
Here is the Good Will Lathe --Without the side extension attached.

Here are the rest of the items that go with the lathe

Pics of Andy using the lathe , Scott and Steve doing the inventory

and finally Pete using the lathe and getting lots of advice from my good friend Tony.

Re: GW Lathe inventory

Man, if I knew my picture was gonna get posted I would have shaved and sucked my gut in.

I probably wouldn't have held the skew like a pool cue, either.

Re: GW Lathe inventory

And here are pics of my first round objects.
As with clamps - You can never have enough mallets.
This was turned out of a SQUARE piece of hard maple for the handle. Turned down
to approx. 1 and 1/4 " the insert to the working end of the mallet was further turned down to one inch. to fit into and glued to the head. The top or head is from a SQUARE piece of Red oak. and was drilled with a one inch Forster bit to accommodate the handle.

Here's the top view.
