First, let me thank PChristy for putting together the bottle stopper purchase and for letting me buy-in a bit late. Not only am I sold on Ruth's stoppers, I actually enjoy the idea of this "little" lathe project.
Now, before you look at these understand (1) I'm a rookie turner and (2) a virgin bottle stopper turner! There is a progression in quality, the first one being the blue/yellow one (which is a bit rough) and the final being the ones with the DECENT chatter marks on the endgrain.
This was the very first. I was playing around with dye and the chatter tool a bit. It ain't too pretty, but it worked.

Turning is a good change of pace ... the projects (that I'm doing) are usually fairly simple, and there's little to no measuring involved 
. It takes a little artistic touch ... which I'm finding gets lost in lack of skill, or changed when I take the skew for a ride down my near-finished piece. Overall though, the lathe is good fun and works another part of my brain 
. I've probably turned about 40 stoppers by now but I only glue together the ones I think are decent or that people seem to like
