First, let me thank PChristy for putting together the bottle stopper purchase and for letting me buy-in a bit late. Not only am I sold on Ruth's stoppers, I actually enjoy the idea of this "little" lathe project.

Now, before you look at these understand (1) I'm a rookie turner and (2) a virgin bottle stopper turner! There is a progression in quality, the first one being the blue/yellow one (which is a bit rough) and the final being the ones with the DECENT chatter marks on the endgrain.

This was the very first. I was playing around with dye and the chatter tool a bit. It ain't too pretty, but it worked.

I can 100% relate

I really like Ruth's stoppers and would definitely get in on another buy if it happens . I've probably turned about 40 stoppers by now but I only glue together the ones I think are decent or that people seem to like

Nice work bro

Re: First Bottle Stoppers

This is a great coincidence. I just bought some stoppers from Lee Valley and hope to spin off a few gifts. I could not agree more with the feeling a quick project brings. I feel like I've been working my latest project forever...oh yea. it has been forever.

Anyway your stoppers are fantastic and will look even better in some exotic bottle-o-vino!

Re: First Bottle Stoppers

Way to go. I agree with many of the others - doesn't look anything like a first attempt. I'm very impressed. Keep turning!!!
