I have been spending some time in the shop, attempting to create a pen from an idea that I have. The pen is not coming out like I had hoped and it looks like I'm going to have another 'prototype' (I'm not giving up!!! It just may be a while before I can start over......again!) Anyway, out of frustration, I came inside and updated the 'Pens' section of my gallery to take my mind off of it and am posting a few below....

BOW w/Bloodwood cross (outlined with walnut veneer). The centerband is macassar ebony.

BOW, with Amboyna Burl & Bloodwood accents

BOW with Cocobolo accents

thanks for looking...any criticisms would be appreciative...would appreciate the opportunity to improve...

Re: A few more pens made from BOW

Chris I really like the first and third one. I would have done away with the CB in the first one myself, the cross is excellent and should be the dominant feature. The third one has great balance and a overall excellent design. Is your BOW certified??? I wonder how much more it is worth to have the cert of authenticity with the BOW or just go with regular OW. IIRC, you'll pay a good bit more for the OW from the "Holy-land".

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

I can't either!!!

Dave, I agree...the centerband is too much of the pen. I was experimenting some with trying to add some 'demention' to the pen...kind of hinting at the cross being on a hill...but it didn't work. That's alright though...it did make the pen kind of long. I know that some of these things won't work as well as others...those are the types of things that I like feedback on. Sometimes, being the creator, it's hard to step back and truly see if it worked or not. In any case, the cb is mac. ebony and I just couldn't do away with it..hehe

I like the third pen too, but thought the second came out the best, actually. In my view, it looked almost like a comfort fit type pen...and the amboyna burl and bloodwood colors worked will with the BOW.

The blanks are certified and I have been providing the business card sized cert with each pen. For the people who I have created the pens for, I believe that it did make a difference. I actually had an order for two pen/letter opener sets from a lady who has a family member who is a priest and another who is a nun. So, definately a niche there...

The cheapest BOW I have found is at Woodturningz (http://www.woodturningz.com). They typically sell it for $3 a blank. They just had a sale (that ends tonight!) where I picked up another dozen blanks for $2.50 ea. Typically, the blanks have been very pretty, smell awesome while drilling/turning, and turn like butter...sometimes I wonder if you could turn the whole blank without breaking the streamer...haha. Did I mention that I love the smell??? I actually had two blanks that came with a little bit of curl to them...those each went on a nice baron kit!

thanks for the feedback...I greatly appreciate it!!!
