What's Close Enough??
What is a reasonable expectation for aligning the blade and miter slots on a table saw? I understand that the separation measurements at the front and rear of the blade should be the same, but what is acceptable as a tolerance?
I have a Delta Hybrid table saw and spent an afternoon trying to zero out the alignment. The main thing I have to show for my efforts are bruises from my shoulder to my wrist from trying to loosen/tighten the trunion bolts through the access in the side of the cabinet.
Is there an easier way short of lifting the table off the cabinet? Any suggestions/recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
RayH

Re: What's Close Enough??
I would check with PALS and see if they have adjustment screws for your saw

For those who care, their view is if it is within 0.002" you should smile widely and walk away. Now for some more bruises.

Re: What's Close Enough??
If you have a true hybrid you shouldn't have to touch the trunnion bolts. They should be attached to the cabinet base and never need adjustment. A true hybrid, like a cabinet saw has 4 bolts holding the table to the base. Use those to align the miter slots to the blade. Takes 15 minutes on my zip code saw.

Joe the Delta Hybrid has table mounted trunnions. I believe the only 2 that have cabinet mounted trunnions are the 22124 Craftsman and the Steel City.
Thats the only thing I have not checked on my Delta and I'll get around to it sonner or later. .002 inches is pretty close and if your getting that close I agree smile and walk away.

Re: What's Close Enough??
0.002" equals one half the thickness of a piece of paper. I can't even mark anything that close. I know I can't see that close. Besides that amount of error is divided equally between the front and back of the blade, so it actually amounts to 0.001 average error.
