Re: Small tool gloat

Okay, this is what I have planned for all my routers. (all subject to change as needed)

1. 3.5 hp in my router table - PC 7518
2. small laminate trimmer for laminate - DeWalt
3. plunge for, well plunging DeWalt 625
4. one for a roundover bit - PC 690
5. one for a chamfer bit - PC 690
6 2 for my dovetail jig (1 dovetail bit, 1 straight bit) - PC 690
7. one for general purpose routing - PC 690 "D" Handle

I hope you hope you have gained some insight to my illness .

Re: Small tool gloat

Those 2 wrenches for the PC routers sure are hard to use

Only 3 here and they suit my needs very well. Table, free hand, and delicate laminate trimmer...I can use the wrenches.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Congrats on the deal. Only 34 more to go & you'll have the answer to the ultimate question: "How many routers does a man really need?" Anybody remember that post?

Dremel tools don't count.

I have a line on a clean 690 with wrenches and both collets, and the storage case. Is $80 a fair price for this machine??? one starts to wonder, after hearing how Tom stole his....

Here's the post I refer to: It refers to the answer given in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, to which the question had been long forgotten.

That's it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally. THE question. The question to end all questions. The question people have asked since the beginning of time. We already knew the answer, now we finally know the question.

"How Many Routers Does A Man Need To Be Happy?"

Re: Small tool gloat

Pete, fair is what you are willing to pay and feel good about. I think that is not a bad price for a good condition with all the colletts and wrenches. If it is a pawn shop I would bargin down some.

Re: Small tool gloat

yup, it's at a pawn shop, but I just committed to a few other small things first. gloats to come, in a little over a week! So I will have to count on the fact that they haven't yet put it on the floor, so I still have a shot at it in a week or two.

Re: Small tool gloat

If I had 8 routers I'd have to build an addition to the shop.

Re: Small tool gloat

I got a practically new 690 on clearance at Lowes for $30 awhile back. Personally, I would think $80 is too much, especially since I bought a new Hitachi from Amazon for $79.

Re: Small tool gloat

Great score!

You guys are killing me - I have one "real" router and 3 rotary tools (I know someone said Dremels don't count, but one of them is a hanging motor hoss).

Re: Small tool gloat

You have got to have lots of routers. Dremels count if you want them to count, but they won't drive most bits without destroying the bearings.

Remember, there are many members of this forum (not me of course) that have woodguy disease and are constantly buying more or bigger tools. Me personally, I think I have 9 routers including laminate trimmers and not including dremel tools.
