I recently built myself a router table using the Rousseau 3509 Router Table Base (http://www.rousseauco.com/model3509.htm).

Everything I read says that the rings are removable... but I can't seem to figure it out. I'm afraid that I'll damage them if I try to force them.

Can anyone tell me the trick to removing the rings?

Thanks.

Re: Rousseau Router Base Plate Question

Takarin,
I've got that same plate and the rings ARE tight, but they come out. Pop it with your thumbs or hit it with a rubber hammer. They loosen up a little, after a couple of times.

Re: Rousseau Router Base Plate Question

If they are anything like the ones in my Jessem plate and require a "spanner wrench" with two pins to turn them. I had to take a piece of scrap stock and place it against the wrench and give it a few whacks with a mallet. Just remember righty tighty, lefty loosey or you'll never get them out. They have quite a tight fit when perfectly flush with the plate surface.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Re: Rousseau Router Base Plate Question

They snap into place -- They will come out with a light tap from underneath or I've pried them out with a piece of dowel without damaging them.
