Rikon 10-345

In the market for a bandsaw to use for resawing & was looking at the rikon 10-345.

In looking for some info I found this thread http://ncwoodworker.net/forums/f31/r...see-flaw-1604/

I was wondering if anyone would know if Rikon fixed the problem identified in the thread above.

Thanks
Joe

Re: Rikon 10-345

First welcome to the site. I got my saw in Nov 2007, Have had no problem with it at all. Had big problem with Timber wolf blades not welded right. Will not buy them again.

I've had some experience with that saw, and can only say that I was impressed!

Re: Rikon 10-345

Welcome Joe,
I don't know if Chuck had his issue resolved. That thread was mentioned on other WW forums and as far as I have read no one else has experienced that problem, but I could well have missed some.
I have had the 10-325 for over 1 1/2 years and haven't had any problems that weren't taken care of quickly over the phone to Rikon support.
Ken

I have one. It's fantastic. Purchased from Woodcraft/Raleigh about Oct '06. Fine machine, highly recommended. NO problems.

Thanks for the info.

I'll have to see if my CFO will give me the green light!

Re: Rikon 10-345

I've had mine since April and I am very pleased with the machine. I am a babe-in-the-woods when it comes to bandsaw's but have been able to do nice work with it right out of the gate . Throw away the blade that comes with it !

Re: Rikon 10-345

Ditto to all the positive comments above. I've had mine for about 3 months and am totally satisfied w/it. I'd also get rid of the stock blade and invest in a few quality blades. I've been using Olson on my previous Powermatic so I stuck w/them.

Hope this helps.

Re: Rikon 10-345

That post was a long time ago. Most of what I've read or heard about the 10-345 makes me think that Rikon has long since mitigated or solved the problems associated with the design change from the 10-340 to the 10-345. I got one of the first of the "new" 10-345 models and ended up returning and replacing with a MM16.

I have also heard a lot of complaints about the Timberwolf (TW) bands. I have personally had good luck with them. The silicon steel blades from John at Woodcraft Bands are okay and IIRC they were a little less money than the TW blades.
