Smile Powermatic Band Saw Rebuild

I finally finished the rebuild of the Powermatic 143 band saw that Char and I picked up in the great buy we got on CL last spring. I though you may want to see the results.

How it looked when we got it.

Disassembled

Painted

Assembled and Running

Dust port added but I need to build a channel inside the cover to direct more of the dust to the port.

Motor access door was missing so I made one for 1/4 Luan

I replaced the upper wheel bearings and both blade guide bearings, all wiring and belts but I was able to clean all the other parts up and reuse them. It runs very smooth and the two speed transmission doesn't even leak any more.

I'm very pleased with the way it turned out and especially how well it runs and cuts.

Thanks for looking.

Chuck

Re: Powermatic Band Saw Rebuild

Very nicely done! It feels good to fix up old iron. I have done a few myself and really enjoy it.

Very nicely done! Should last you a very long time! Love the door you made. I can't even tell it isn't the original from the pictures!
