One pair of X's...
I got them both put together and the proof is in My Gallery photos.
The jointer only took less than two hours of unrushed time to put together. No real challenges and right out of the box this baby really hums. It is so quiet I have to double check the switch position to make sure I really did turn it off Tried the nickel test from the infeed table... the wind from the cutters keep blowing it over
The Bandsaw was a little more challenging to put together. I probably have 3-4 hours invested so far and still have a little adjustment work to do. I ran into a small problem with power cord that is too short when I installed the riser block. In addition somewhere on my shop floor is a tiny little ball that fell out when I installed the new guide post. The motor installation was a PITA and I still need to do a little adjusting on it's position and the belt tension... but otherwise it came together pretty well. This is one sweet saw. Almost no vibration even before I finish the adjustments. Doesn't pass the nickel test on start-up yet, but it stays upright during operation. so all-in-all I would have to say this is a pretty smooth running saw.
Already got the jointer dirty this afternoon processing some walnut. That is one sweet tool.

All MY X's live in .....
Ok, the x still lives somewhere in Raleigh, but she used to live in Texas...
Sweet machines. I'm a little envious. You suck

Re: One pair of X's...
Those are some nice looking machines. By your title I thought you might be having probs. posting the pictures I guess not, but to make it easier for folks to drool over your pretty new Deltas I had to throw up a picture. I am glad to hear that you didn't have any problems with the bandsaw.

I'm not sure I'm old enough to be viewing tool porn of this caliber. If my wife catches me I may find myself sleeping on the couch. Sweet score .gif)

Re: One pair of X's...
Looking good Hugh.............looking good. Is that a 4" dust port on the lower cabinet of your bandsaw? Is it set up to draw sawdust out of the lower wheel housing?

Yes, it is. I just got my new DC a couple of weeks ago and haven't had time to run the plumbing yet. But I plan on setting up a permanent run with blast gates to the bandsaw, Jointer and Unisaw very soon.

Are both of you competing to be the TEACHER's PET????
I got the Jointer tuned up and started processing the seat. Still doing the final tune on the bandsaw. But I'll be ready... I don't think the old "dog ate my homework" routine will work. (I don't let either of my dogs into the shop.)

The same goes to Monty and Steve. You guys better keep the pace up. I'm doing all the same work you guys are plus the chest, gun handles, teaching, keeping Brandon straight, pulling saw motors.......
We will make another huge leap next weekend. Next weekend you guys will actually be sitting on something. Make sure you come with your back legs and front legs 6s, and your seat glued up nice and flat. You'll also want your arm stock. The crest rail can stay home for the mean time.
Cya,
John
BTW Hugh, nice haul. The WG disease is strong in this one.

Hugh I am definitely envious of you right now. Hopefully I can add a bandsaw to my lineup sometime in the near future. Have fun with the new tools.

I'm just down the road anytime you need to use any of the equipment. I'm just about ready to break in the bandsaw.
