Seems a little gimmicky to me, but eh, who knows, no if it told me where the edge of the bits were it might be useful!

Perhaps if one changed the way a mortise was marked-out, this gadget might be very helpful. What I'm thinking is if the middle was marked instead of the sides and the end was marked at 1/2 of the router bit's diameter short of the end, then knowing where the center of the bit was going to cut should prove useful.
I haven't seen the thing nor do I know anything about it, but thought I'd contribute my $.02.

In fact, the suggested usage in the ad was for plunge cut shelf pins and following lines for sign making . . . not big selling points. However, the plate does include battery powered LED light to improve visibility and a predrilled, offset plate and knob. I like the idea of improved lighting/visibility under the router, but I balk at paying $50-60. It's cheap to make shelf pin template and offset plate.
Thanks for the input folks
Roger

Roger I agree that more light is what's needed, infact the other week I was forced to double stick tape a small torch (flashlight) to the base plate to illuminate the cut line - worked like a charm.
