Need help pricing DC

I stumbled upon a potential deal, but I need some help on the value. In this weeks local base paper there was a listing for a Grizzly 1030 dust collector. I called the gentleman and he said it was new and still in the box. When I asked him how much he wanted, he didn't give me a price, just asked what I was willing to give for it. Now, I am not that familiar with DC systems and don't know what to offer. Basically, it is in his way and he wants to get rid of it. So, could some of you who are more familiar with these things please let me know what a fair price would be? Thank you.

Ken

Re: Need help pricing DC

Based on Frank's listing. I would start the bidding at $250, and go up from there. If it is in as good of shape as you say "brand new", $350 would be as high as I would go. You can buy it new from the manufacturer/retailer for a little more than that and have all the paperwork for warranty issues, etc.
BTW, welcome to the site, I am glad you could join us.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Re: Need help pricing DC

I agree with DaveO on your pricing, but offer the following about this unit -- (1) it is wired for 220 V power and draws 15 Amps -- you will need a 20 AMP circuit breaker to handle the load; (2) The collection bags are rated at 30 microns -- the fine dust will pass right through them, so plan on added cost to put better bags (1 micron is recommended), or this is the classic "dust pump"; (3) it is at least a 12-year old design (but it won a Wood Magazine award in 1997).

IMHO (see our Lexicon under the NC WW Info on the top menu bar), I would not buy it. I think you would do better with a Harbor Freight 2 HP DC with the Wynn Environmental Canister Conversion on it to provide good suction and clean exhaust air. Just my .02

BTW, welcome to the website -- but be sure to post a new thread under the Who We Are forum to give us all a proper introduction and we'll welcome you there!
