My First Lathe!

So I went down to Jeremy's (Woodwrangler) on Thursday and came home with a little something.

After a long ride home with a big grin, I got it home. The lathe quickly spit this out as soon as it got to my shop!

One more view...

And as they say... the rest is history! Thanks Jeremy!!

Re: My First Lathe!

Is this a tool gloat or a bowl gloat?

Details please what is the model number and horsepower and is it a steel or cast iron bed? Did that neat tool rack come with it. Is that a cherry bowl, what did you use for a chuck or was it turned between centers. What type of finish is on the bowl.

Re: My First Lathe!

Way to go Bluthart! Your bit of bragging (deserved I must say) has caused me great anguish! OK, it made me go out and turn something..... I guess the anguish is on the lawn that isn't getting cut. But! Its still your fault!

That lathe looks very familiar....

The lathe is a Delta 1440, model 46-715. It's a 3/4hp motor, 14" swing, rotating head, and cast iron bed with a steel stand. The tool rack came with it, but was made by Tom Hintz.
