I have been considering either a floor standing mortiser, a slot mortiser, or a loose tenon system to speed up my projects. I finally ordered a Domino last week and it arrived today! I picked the Domino because it was cheaper than many slot mortisers, it will take up less space, and it appears to be pretty versatile. I like the fact that you can connect boards as narrow as 1" compared to almost 3" for biscuits.

I can't wait to get it dusty. Now I just need to complete some projects to pay for it.

Re: My First Festool - Gloat

Amy,
Congrats on the Festool Domino gadget. I have read alot of reviews on it and it is rated highly. I also look forward for your comments on it as well as pics of your completed future projects.
When I first got interested in woodworking, boxes, cabinents and whatever, dowels ( a step beyond mortice and tenons for joints ) speeded up joint contruction with perfect alignments. 1970
We progress on, pocket screw joints, loose tennon joints and biscuits which brings up to date. Freud has announced a new tool which is similar in design to a biscuit cutter but has two drill bits for making dowel joints.
We have come full circle.

Enjoy your new tool, YOU ROCK.:icon_che ers

Later,
Albert
