My final (HA!) bandsaw resaw report

OK, I put the woodslicer on, adjusted the guides, made sure the belt was tight (it was a little loose), made sure the table was square to the blade, fired it up and gave it another shot...

Cut that 7" spruce like butta!
I cut a fairly long piece that has a pretty clean surface and only some very minor thickness variations (it is too thick at this end for the last few inches where I ended the cut); due to my technique and lack of a proper fence (I used the roofer's square as a wannabe single point fence). I am very pleased!
Just better push blocks (I used the plywood piece lying on the table; it is feathered on the far end) would have made a difference. The "single point fence" actually works okay. I knew when I had the slight variations and it wasn't because of the saw or fence. But at least I am looking to tweak good results, not trying to figure out what went wrong.

Hey Andy that fence looks neat is it home made ? It looks like it's made using an aluminum tri-square.

Awesome score. I've never tried a point fence but they are used by quite a few folks. The cut surface looks good from what I see in the pic. Cool deal.

Very nice! It's encouraging to hear the longer Woodslicer blades do just as well as the 93" ones (I have yet to buy the riser block, just hate to replace four perfectly good blades...).

Plastic, actually.

I plan to make a "real" single point fence soon. Just adding a piece of half round would improve this some. Just being an inch wide meant that I did have adjust slightly for the tiny anount of drift the woodslicer has. On a true single point, you just adjust the feed direction.

Re: My final (HA!) bandsaw resaw report

Andy,

I'm so glad you had good results with the Woodslicer!!! That blade made all the difference in the world to me. Not bad, a nice jam session last night followed by a nice debut for the woodslicer! Sounds like you're getting your weekend started off RIGHT!

Man, I wish you were going to be at the picnic.

Trent
