JimmyC rides again ! (gloat)

OK, so my Delta combo sander gave up the ghost . I lamented my loss publicly to my woodworking family . Got some good advice , good recommendations , even had a member considering selling his .
Following sage advice from junquecol , I actually was able to locate the part for mine and put it all to bed ( hasn't come in yet though )
The along comes JimmyC with a hot tip on one less than 10 miles from my house

.........enabler !!!

one phone call and the deed was did

It's like I just traded in a Volkswagen for a Cadillac

Met one heckuva nice guy too He is a woodworker and his wife scrolls . Had some beautiful home made cabinets in his shop
Really enjoyed talking with them and telling them about our merry band of sawdust makers . hopefully we'll see him ( them ) on the forum soon . Super nice folks with sawdust in their veins . In other words, they are bona-fide North Carolina Woodworker candidates
I left with the sander and several pieces of " scrap "
....man, some days it is just good to be a scroller with the right timing . Love it when a " real " woodworker let's me at his burn pile

Thanx again Jimmy .......YOU ROCK !!

Re: JimmyC rides again ! (gloat)

Nice pickup Robert, I saw that when it came up on CL, I hit the refresh button and it posted, and I sent you the e-mail and pm. We have to travel all over for some items, so it's nice to have it close to home every once in a while. It's the same as mine , you're gonna love it.

Jimmy

ps. Yes Fred I be an enabler

Re: JimmyC rides again ! (gloat)

I think I'll take up scrolling as well. Then you have a great excuse to go buy a band saw, planer, jointer, sander, drill press, without being expected to produce cabinetry

Great score Robert - you rock!!!

Great score, Robert -- I have the same sander and it has served me well -- but it does produce lots of dust!

And that Caddy should give you a smooth ride.

A really good carver once told me that sandpaper is for people who don't know how to sharpen their tools - I have lots of it.
(interesting aside- one of my uses for very fine sandpaper is sharpening my tools)

You rock!

I am not surprised you got a shop tour and made new friends. I don't know you well, but I felt like I did just from a few messages and the IHOP breakfast and our gifting of tools and wood. I haven't done much with the ply you gave me yet, though I did play Santy with a lot of it on one of my sailing trips (dropped a bit of it in Greenville). So a great deal couldn't happen to a nicer fella.
