Grizzly green sighting in my shop! (gloat)

Well I was in the right place at the right time and scored these two Grizzly tools for less the half of new. Now they both need a little TLC, but should turn out great.

First is a 24" dual drum sander 5hp 220 volt 30 amp
Second is a 20" 4 knife head planer same motor ratings as the sander.

(Click the picture for more pictures)

The sander is a single speed conveyer and I have a dc electronic vs motor I want to try and install on the sander conveyer. (Alan you listening, I might need some help with this)

Tom, that is a steal!! That 1066 is newer and in much better shape than the one I got a few years ago. Mine needs a new conveyor, but Grizzly wants way too much. Neither machine should take much cleaning. I also upgraded my 1066 with a DC conveyor motor and variable speed controller. You might need to build a bracket, but there is plenty of room in there.

Looks like an amazing deal! Cleaning them up can only make one appreciate them that much more. Congrats on the score!

You ROCK & ROLL, Tom!

That's a great deal on those GREEN Monsters!

You may need to add another DC just to handle all the chips and sawdust they will create!

Enjoy!

I think I have figured this all out. Tom is creating a master shop so he can rent out tool time to those of us that need time on a big machine. Just a little money making venture on the side.

Those will clean up nice Tom, and save a bundle.

Looks like you'll need it for a bigger dust collector.

Nope, just adding more sanding options.

I've got the woodtek 26" dual drum sander. if you like you can come by and look at it to see how you could attach your VS motor. I believe both of these machines are basically the same. can you post a pic of the back side where the feed motor mounts? I might have other suggestions if I knew what it looked like.

Fred, the Grizz has the motor mounted inside with a long chain to the conveyor drive sprocket. The original motor was a right angle gear head motor, but by fabricating a bracket, Tom should be able to mount the one he has. Not sure about the hp/torque specs on Tom's motor and whether it will be strong enough, however- the Grizz had a 1/4 hp motor.
