I had a great time at the Klingspor event last weekend. I must admit that I was ver tired from handling that Porter Cable 7539 Router for so long during the demos. I forgot to bring a mat to stand on and my feet (BTW very flat) were killing me.

Onto the gloat...Paul at Klingspor "made me an offer I couldn't refuse." So look what followed me home (Jimmy C already guessed it)...

Travis came by Sunday night and helped unload it in the rain. 500 lbs. never seemed so heavy! I got casters for it yesterday and put them on last night.

Only one minor flaw. One of the flanges that the casters attach to is bent slightly. As a result the wheel angles inward and the unit is a little unbalanced. I am thinking of making a plate to span between the two holes on that end and attaching the both casters at that end through the plate. Any thoughts or other ideas?

Doug

Scott: Yes it is a joiner/planer combo. I have a small shop so this takes up no more room than my 6" joiner and lunchbox planer and I get 12" of joining capacity.

Jeremy: I will let you know how it works once I get power to it. I need to get a plug. Travis said he may have a spare around. If not I have a trip to the BORG in my future.

I will give a full review when I am done, but Tom Hintz and Nativespec have both written about this machine and done reviews.

I can't thank Paul at Klingspor enough. He was very helpful despite having a VERY hectic day.

Doug

You SUCK!!! That is a nice score, and a great solution to conserve space. It would be really nice to joint wider boards without having to use a sled or ripping them down first. Now you have me thinking..

BTW, you'd have ROCKED instead if you had posted BIGGER pictures. I can't drool over such a small surface. Good luck on getting the caster situation fixed.

Congratulations Doug ! It was fairly easy for me to figure it out since I was at Klingspor last time when you and David Norby(Nativespec) got in a discussion about it. You were jonesin for one then, but had a hard time spending the money. I think that you made a great choice, especially for the size of your shop, and I'm sure that you're going to love it.

Good Luck with it.

Very nice! I can't help you with your problem in the other thread. I thought the stuff under cosmolene was called "iron" (I don't own any large new tools). Anyway, nice score!

Congrats, Doug. It's a beauty.
And you're putting pressure on Travis for a tag line change

Wo!!! That it is a really cool combo. Sure beats draggin' a planer and jointer around, positioning and then having to park them.

Hope you let us know how you like it!

Congrats! You ROCK!
