Lat nite I was drilling holes with my Rigid floor model drill press. Without warning it made a funky noise and the quill became like a dead weight ....that is to say it no longer returns to the top when I let go It still turns just fine but it is no longer " spring loaded "
I haven't even tore into it yet but I'd like some input as to what I might find when I do and possibly some things not to do while i'm in there
Bear in mind that I am a caveman when it come to power tool repairs

I'm hoping that this is not terminal or very expensive to fix . I love that drill press ! ( thanx Bas )

Thanx for any and all input

Whoo hoo! I got some props! Now I am waiting to find out how it's failure is my fault.
