Cordless gloat

So here's what was waiting for me when I got home today:

Oh, sorry...that's NIkita. Not MAkita. This is the good stuff:

Batteries charged in no time, and I gotta say, I'm impressed. These things are incredibly light and compact, yet have plenty of power. Small enough for the woodshop, big enough for DIY projects. I'm not sure how much I'll use the impact driver given that I have the Bosch PS-40, but it's nice to have. Not bad for $200 delivered Did I mention these things are light? Oh, and Makita has a promotion for a free battery too

Very nice set and a very good price. I'm thinking I might get a new drill as the batteries on mine are shot.

BTW, you have a wine rack in the shop????

Yup. Before it was a shop, it was a storage room that just happened to house my tools. This was before I had any real tools, it's only been a shop for 18 months or so. Haven't moved the wine rack out yet....my brilliant plan is to build something a little nicer that will go elsewhere in the house, so I can claim some more space

Ha! The tools of course

Interesting experiment to see if you're a real woodworker. Put one of those girly magazines and a Rockler catalog on the table. If you don't go for the Rockler catalog, you've failed the test.

Or have too many tools.

Nah, you FAILED!

Hmm.... interesting test there. I have plenty of tools right now, but in the girl department...... Not sure if I could pass that one.

Congrats on the score Bas!!! $200 DELIVERED? I'll be looking into that soon.

Cheers,

Trent

Re: Cordless gloat

Congratulations Bas, that looks like a durn cool set. I do have a question though, are you perchance packaging challenged ? My former detective instincts kicked in when I saw no less than THREE cutting implements on the bench . If you have any tool packages that you find too frustrating to break into just forward them to Baskerville, VA to get the stress out of your life

Normally, I have no issues getting open packages. I just get a large blade and start hacking into it (think Pyscho). Although some of those clamshells have proven to be a challenge.

The reason for multiple knives on this one was because the shipping label was stuck over the bar code, which I needed for the free battery offer. Peeling off that label without destroying the bar code was a frustrating experience Improbable, yes. But remember: After you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, MUST be the truth!

For future reference ( I have done more than a few rebates) a hair dryer or heat gun does miracles on recalcitrant sticky labels just be judicious with the amount of heat applied, it takes suprisingly little

Glenn,

I am afraid that you have inadvertently become an enabler. Now Bas has an excuse to go out and buy himself a professional heat gun!!!!

Congrats on the new Makita, Bas. I am sure you are goin' to love it. And. Yes you got a tremendous deal on that set!

Wayne
