Last weekend toolferone (Tom) offered his 1/2" torquey Skil hand drill to whoever posted back first and it was me. I figured it would serve me better than the 3/8" I have as a "round the house handyman" drill as my 3/8" is beginning to show signs of wearing out. I have been pleasantly surprised to find the 1/2" drill is a lot more useful. It has power to spare and the handle for two handed operation. Here is my favorite use so far:

That's the 2" Microplane rotary rasp. It is an incredible shaping tool in this configuration. A word of warning - this is not a finesse tool and it will give your forearms a serious workout; both hands are required. I just used it to clean up bandsaw marks on end grain in the photo.

I also had picked up a sanding disc for my angle grinder that was just way too aggressive at grinder speeds and difficult to work into recesses, so mounted it on a short drill arbor and have been using it with the drill with great success also.

Thanks, Tom!
