Well, my Lie-Nielson Bronze #4 just arrived by mail from far off lands...An aquisition as the result of a divorce sale! A little spit shine, and she be as new!!! And for a steal! Blade is razor sharp, so it might not get to meet the Work Sharp for a little while. No more gloats for awhile, I promise!.....(unless you are also into flyfishing also) | | Views: 260 |

Chris, Ever since I retired 5 years ago with a heart problem, I have persued flyfishing with a heated fervor! As if tomorrow might be the last day I lived sorta thing! Well, have had the habit of picking up deals along the way in hard to find rods, hard to find reels, bamboo, etc! Kinda like Wood Guy Disease or whatever its called...Picked up an unused Galvan T-4 Torque yesterday loaded with my favorite fly line in a 4wt for about 60% off retail! Awaiting its arrival. Even with the trading, etc. I can't keep the rod inventory under 20 and even worse with reels! And of course, you can't fish but with 1 at a time. But when the right deal pops up, I like to pounce! Can always resell at some date and not lose my initial investment.
Seems as if I'm doing the same with tools! Huh! Can't hardly come to pay retail for some reason! So I keep my eyes and ears open! |

I haven't done it in many years, but fly fishing I can say is fun. Most other types of fishing I find BORING, but fly fishing seems almost like an art to me.
I remember a few years back, DIY network had episodes of a guy making fly rods. Very intricate, and very detailed, but they were gorgeous.
Congrats on the hand plane! I have the steel 4 1/2 similar to it, and it is truly a joy to use. Up until I bought a Lie Nielsen, I thought hand planing was a joke. I now realize that none of my lower cost planes at the time (Record #5 and a record bench plane) were tuned or sharpened appropriately. Still, they have neither the mass or refinement of a LN. |
