I was just wondering if any of you uses one of these and what your thoughts and comments are. I would like to try some work on a chuck but Im not too sure if I will like it or not. I am using a small pen lathe for now. Dont want to sink in a pile o cask into something i'm not sure of.
Thanks Mark

Re: wood river 4 jawed chuck
I had this chuck and liked it just fine. It's not the quality of a Oneway, but it's also not the price. I sold it to Badabing (of course, I now wish I had kept it in many respects!)

Re: wood river 4 jawed chuck
You might also consider the PSI Barracuda II chuck - http://www.amazon.com/PSI-Woodworkin...5676075&sr=8-1
It gives you a lot of versatility at a economical price. It's basically a Oneway Talon clone. Close but not quite there, but more than sufficient for anyone's needs.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Re: wood river 4 jawed chuck
Is this the one that Woodcraft sells?, If so, what is the retail/sale price for ? Or what is a good used one go for?
I just bought HF full size lathe with rotating headstock and need to get some goodie for it.
Thanks,
Matt

Re: wood river 4 jawed chuck
I have a PSI C series chuck, and not too long ago my wife surprised me with a woodriver chuck,
the wood river chuch is heaver and stronger, the jaws are heaver and stronger also, the bolts for the jaws are larger, and IMHO it a lot smoother and holds better.
I like it a lot better then the PSI chucks

Yes !
That wood, er...would be great! I still planned on Mon after 5p, if that still works.
BTW, received chisels, pen kits, Morse taper drill chuck and a couple other things. Awaiting HUT from Rockler on sale/free ship.
Talk Soon!
