Well, this weekend was a woodworking-filled one. My fraternity buddy from college headed up from south Florida to spend some quality time in the shop building his wife a wall cabinet.

We were able to create everything (except the panel) from stock in the shop -- and thus got to use virtually every power tool I had for some great experiences. We toped it off with inset doors (a first for both of us!). He'll now take it home and paint it to match their bathroom -- so maybe we'll see some results out here soon.

The shop also had a couple of other visitors. Curt (woodydiver) came out in the morning to hooked up me with another outlet for the lathe so my lights wouldn't dim any longer. Then later in the afternoon Scott (scsmith42) came by to show me around the bandsaw powerfeeder (now if I can just get it installed!)

Looks like a fun weekend! Glad to see you were able to build something bigger than a shoebox! I was thinking you have so much cool equipment that you wouldn't be able to move a board around in there!

LoL ... the shop is roomier than ever! Doesn't sound possible, but I promise it is. I think I need a bigger jointer now.

Jeremy, I don't know about the guy in the first picture, but the second one looks like a weird dude. I wouldn't let him near your power tools

Nice job on finishing a project in a weekend, looks like all the shop reorgs and acquisitions are paying off!

Oh yes, buy the 16" Invicta! Save me the agony.

I almost bought the beast that Alan bought and decided not to just because it didn't have segmented infeed rollers. I am still not sure about this jointer just because it is 16" and do I really need a jointer that big. I have got the wife considering it. I am supposed to get an answer tomorrow, but even if she does say yes, do I really want it and if I do get it, the bigger question is where will I put it!

Travis,

I think it's time for the shop expansion, if you can't go out , go up. Maybe it's time to talk the wife into a bigger tool, a new house with a big barn for a shop. Naaahhhh..... if we gave you that much room, you'd probably be buying tools like Scotts. Anyway, as far as the purchase of the jointer is concerned go with my old standard " Let your conscience be your guide". You know what you need. Good luck.

Oh the wife wants to move. That is something near and dear to her heart. To move much closer to town as we are in the sticks at the moment. The problem with her moving to her "dream house" are my requirements. Either a basement with 900 sq ft or more space with 9 ft ceilings minimum or enough space to build a 24 x 40 shop. Either of these options must be in our price range, soooooo, she hasn't been real thrilled.

As for the jointer, I have received preliminary approval.

Speaking of weird dudes, get a load of this guy:

For some reason, he looks familiar...

Hey Trav, the family down the road is considering selling their mini-farm. 10 acres and a nice, new house. Probably be around 400K, give or take. Lots of room for a nice, big woodshop, and the fellow down the road has a sawmill and kiln...

Only 15 minutes to Cary too...
