Nice job on all of these, Dolan. It looks like we've got similar mitersaws (I have a Porter Cable 12" Compound Miter Saw 3802L) and I see you've made some zero clearance inserts for yours. Actually, I'm most interested in your Mitersaw Stand and am looking at several plans right now -- care to share the source of your plans? I also like your dado and tapering jigs, too -- they are like clamps, you can't have too many!

Thanks. Rob

McRabbet, I will pull the plans out of the file cabinet when I go to the shop tomorrow and then post the source. I made the stand about 5 years ago. One of my first projects when I got serious about ww'ing. Originally the wings on the stand folded down, which is nice in a small shop. But over time they really began to get out of alignment, so I recently took them off reworked them and mounted them so they don't fold and are in alignment. And added the T-track and flip up stop block. The cabinet also has storage under the saw and it is mobile.

Nice. What did you use to attach to the bandsaw adjuster?

My sore hands sure would be interested in that mod.

McRabbet,

I got the plan for the Mobile Mitresaw cabinet from WOODPLANS . If I was to build it again I would make the wings stationary and I would not include the two leveling rods the plan calls for. I have never used them. They are two 3/8" threaded rods with wood knobs on the top that go all the way through the cabinet to the floor and are used to help level the cabinet on an uneven floor. Eliminating the folding wing option and leveling rods save on hardware. The plans are clear and detailed. I have them if you decide on building this cabinet.

Chris,
I used quick set epoxy to secure the handle to the exiting knob on the tensioning rod. I didn't think it through properly and made a little mess when I attached the handle. I made the handle, use a forstner bit to drill a hole in the handle to fit over the existing knob, filled the hole with epoxy and slapped it on the exiting knob (while still on the saw). I guess I assumed the epoxy would setup fast enough to not drip. WRONG!! But it soon hardned and the handle works great. Before I wouldn't always release the tension because it was pain. Now it is a quick 2 second twist of the handle.

Dolan,

You have been a very productive jig maker lately, huh?

Your work has made me realize I really need to take some time out and build a few myself...particularly the setup jig and dado jig. It's amazing how much time is saved on the back end of a project by preparing the jigs on the front end.

BTW, nice looking router table from what I can see!!

Thanks for the inspiration,

Chuck

I guess some folks don't like or use jigs but I like/need them sometimes. If I have a jig made before I start a project it helps me because if I start the project and don't have jig that I need, I tend to forge ahead and maybe not do as good a job as if I had taken the time to make a jig.

Tip: I have started writing on the back of the jig the name/issue of the magazine/book where I got the plan or if I dreamed it up, what the jig is used for. Some jigs I don't use for awhile and might forget what it is for so the reference helps. Oh, a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

There are more pictures of the router table in my photo album and other albums also.
