Great work as always Charlie! Having seen your work in person, I realize that as good as the pictures look they still don't do justice the beautiful work you do.

Re: Recent Turnings

Amazing. Everything lines up perfectly. It probably takes longer to prepare the blank than it does to turn it. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Recent Turnings

That sphere is way cool! Do you turn that in two segments and glue them together?

Re: Recent Turnings

Thanks for all the compliments. This segmented turning sure is addicting. If I'd known retirement was this much fun I would have retired years ago!!! BobcatBob, actual turning time is about 15-20% of the total project time, depending on the number of peices involved. Cutting and gluing can get somewhat boring, but once a piece starts taking shape on the lathe it makes all the time spent worthwhile.

Re: Recent Turnings

Ed, it is made in 2 halves, then glued together. Then mount in a jam chuck and cut in two to add another ring. Glue up, turn in between the jam chuck and cut the grove for another ring, etc.

Re: Recent Turnings

Wow Charlie,

Those are amazing... The Sphere's always make my mind go bonkers in how it is made. Would love to see you make one.

Earl has been trying to get me to make some segmented things, so far just a couple bangle's.

Thanks for sharing... I can't wait unitl I retire, so I can have that much fun~!!!
