Thanks to Peter (NCPete) for the equipment & wood, and thanks to Phillip (ptt49er) for the trailer and company on the ride (not to mention the heavy lifting!)

Phillip and I headed towards Sanford to his parents place to pick up a trailer, then down to Hope Mills to meet with Peter. Peter has the luxury of a lift gate truck, so getting it loaded wasn't too bad. To add to the fun, I got a bolt in my tire and it was going flat ... we filled it up, then I plugged it. To make a longer story short, we made it back home around 11pm last night, unloaded it and then called it a day.

Tools are always on the move around here it seems ... this time I decide to part with the beloved Woodmaster 718 and Powermatic 54A jointer and "upgraded" to the Yorkcraft 20" planer and Yorkcraft 8" jointer with Byrd carbide head.

Heavy boogers ... but they are all moved and now in my shop. Hopefully I can steal some time to put them to use soon and "tune" them up (if they need it).

Good looking tools

I guess the next project is a mobile base for the jointer!

Re: The New Toys... ummm, Tools.

Nice Score there dude. I did the spec check when I bought my 20" Yorkie. They are exactly the same as the PM 20. One of these days when I have a shop again I'm getting a bryd for it.

Ahhhh.... Now it all comes to light. The North Carolina Woodworker trade around has been taking place.

Jeremy has upgraded to spiral head tools. Sweet!

Congrats!

Re: The New Toys... ummm, Tools.

Congrats Jeremy!

I figured as much when you included the Jointer Pal in your jointer deal. I may need to sell my 8" Shopfox now that I know somone with an 8" Byrdhead. The Woodmaster was sold too? Dang, missed it again. Guess it's not meant to be.

From your pics I couldn't help but notice several square feet of naked floor space screaming for another new tool!

Yeah ... anyone got a tool I can fill that space with?

Actually, I'm no more cramped than before. I've made some re-arrangements which helped a bit. The jointer isn't much bigger than what I had, and the planer the same. Just a swap -- trying something different.

BTW ... anyone have the manual for these tools? I like to keep those handy.
