I finally have my latest project to a point where I am going to post it here. Built it for my wife out of cherry and figured Cherry. Some of you might remember me posting looking for some and
Dave O came to my rescue and provided some sources for it. It is a plan out of Wood Mag many years ago and they did it in Maple but since our bedroom is all in cherry, went this way. This is the first piece of fine furniture I have built in many years. This may be a big slippery slope, Wife gave me some flack about how much I was spending

on wood and hardware but then after she saw it, all was forgiven. I still have some finish work installing hardware and doing the drawer interiors.

Re: Latest Project

Brad, that's awesome. It looks similar to something I built a few years ago, but much nicer. Your finish looks outstanding, I think I can see myself in the gloss on the top.
Beautiful work!!!

Re: Latest Project

Thanks Guys,

Got the cherry from Mapleleaf hardwoods for $25 a board foot. Figured the wife was worth it. I added the raised panel sides and the tapered legs that were not on the org plans. Used solid cherry for top where plans called for edged ply. Finish is 10 coats of Waterlox orginal on top and 7 on the rest sanding 320 between each coat.

Re: Latest Project

If she thinks the maple is expensive it will pail in comparison to the cost of filling that thing up with jewlery
I love the flush design with minimal reveal and the cherry is grain amazing.

Beautiful work. The stock selection on the drawer faces is absolutely top shelf.

Be sure to post a pic after hardware installation and drawer fitting.
