I got to get into the shop for a few weeks. This is what turned out.

Oak Calender Frame.

So you see I do build things ever so often.

Nice looking project. I was beginning to think you only wished woodworkers happy birthday.

Re: Latest Project

Great work Danny! ... I can see lots of applications for that piece. If you had one with cork board or that chaulk board spray paint, they'd be perfect for people trying to organize!

Looking good Danny! Hard to go wrong with oak, isn't it? I love how the grain on the two stiles converges, with the "wilder" cathedral grain at the top.

The calendar frame looks great.
It needs a NC Woodworker calendar in it, though.

Re: Latest Project

Nice work there, Danny!!!

Really like the little cubbie at the bottom. Great place to put a pen pencil and post-it notes where you can find them.

Great finish!

Re: Latest Project

That's a great idea. I need to make one of those for my kitchen, but I know the kids would want it twice as wide so they can pin notes on one side.

Good looking finish on that oak! What did you use?

Mike, that was honey oak stain with gloss polyurethane.

Purty work there Danny! I am glad to know that I am not the only one here that doesn't get into the shop near often enough.

Re: Latest Project

That is a nice piece of work. Well done.

The post-it-note idea is a good one, particularly if you have young chidren involved in soccer, swimming, baseball, etc. It's a good way to track who's at bat, whose on second, and whose coming home.
