That's cool - the straight lines are impressive! Mine would end up crooked for sure!!!

Rob,

Really nice lamp. Where did you get the lamp hardware? I'd like to make a couple of lamps. I'm getting hints from the kids to make them more stuff.

Hard to see from the photo in the post... what kind of a finish did you put n the lamp?

Ray

Nice job! I'd also like to see some close ups of the top and bottom joints. It looks great.

Way Cool, Rob!!!

I too would be interested in the joinery used down there at the base.

Is that a piece of copper pipe housing the wiring? The shape of that shade really compliments the design!!!

Really nice, it flows very well. I'd be interested in how you joined the bottom also.

Ok I'll try to answers everyone questions.

The copper tubing is just that 1/2" copper tubing from the borg, polished and coated with spray poly to keep the shine.

The finish is Watco dark walnut, but with an added step to the instructions, flood coat the surface and then sand it with 220 grit then wipe it all off. Let it dry about an hour then reapply and let it sit 30min wipe off and you will get a finish that is as smooth as glass.

Lamp hardware waas purchase from Lowes.

Pictures:

The jointery for the bottom was simple. Just butt joints and screws. The top was the same type but a little trickyer I had to glue and screw everything but the very top peice to the legs. The top peice was just glued.

I hope I answered everyone questions.

I don't mind, It cost me a grand total $58.00 and I have enough wood, wire, and stain left over to make another lamp.

I LIKE IT, I LIKE IT A LOT!!
Did your extra step of sanding the flood coat of Watco act as a grain filler?
Great job!
